My story starts back in 2010. America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride captured my heart and soul. We came. We rode. We conquered. We raised some money to fight cancer. One and done...or so I thought.
Here we are: 2026. Cancer is still here stealing friends, parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins. I HATE CANCER.
14 years ago a dear friend died from cancer. I got back on my bike the next year, and raised more money.
In 2014 we made a video and eventually grew our local cycle team to more than 40 members.
Between 2013 - 2019 the Portland Area TNT Cycle Team raised more than $1 Million to fight cancer.
Then 2020... and it all came to an abrupt stop.
In January (2023) I decided that it was time to get off the Lanai! I completed my first Lavaman Olympic Triathlon in March and added another verse to my song Cycle Cure Celebrate. I also lost a dear friend to recurrent cancer on Valentine's Day.
2024 was a very sad year as the world lost a dear soul to cancer: my friend Tim. He fought the good fight for so many years and his journey ended when the AML just couldn't be beaten down. Lavaman was tough last year, but I keep going.
2025 another year, 2 more friends gone: Sharon and Greg.
Here are some photos from the past 16 years that you just might enjoy...
